On Tuesday 13 October, RAW Photoclub members joined staff from Lisburn’s City Library and a wide range of local organisations to support Positive Ageing Month. Armed with our display stand and a fresh collection of photographs, we were delighted to showcase the opportunities available to older people across the Lisburn area.

Throughout the morning, members chatted with passers-by, shared the stories behind the photographs on display and reminisced about the days of film photography and traditional darkroom processing. There was also plenty of discussion about the advantages and challenges of the digital photography age, along with encouragement for anyone interested in photography to come along to a club meeting and see what we get up to.

We were also honoured to welcome The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Brian Higginson, to our stand. He showed great interest in our display and, following a fascinating discussion, left us firmly convinced of one important photography principle: cameras don’t actually take photographs!

Curious to find out what we mean? 📸 Why not come along to one of our meetings and discover the answer for yourself? You might even find a new hobby along the way!

RAW Photoclub welcomes anyone with an interest in photography, whatever their experience or skill level. Come along, meet our members and see where your photography journey could take you.
