All the small things...

Macro practical club night

A huge amount of interest and enthusiasm was on display at the club tonight. There was an excellent turnout from club members, all keen to photograph a collection of animals brought along by Catherine from Amazon Jungle Show.

Catherine introduced us to each of the animals she had brought along and gave us some interesting facts about their anatomy and behaviour.

There were 3 specific ‘stations’ where members could photograph the animals. With 24 keen photographers in the room it soon became ‘survival of the fittest’ to try and get close enough to capture an image.

On display for us was a milk snake, tegu lizard, leopard gecko, tarantula, scorpion, red eyed tree frog and chameleon. Each animal had really interesting features perfect for capturing under a macro lens, whether it was the scales on the snake or the eyes of the tree frog. The scorpion even glowed under UV light and the tree frog was a very active character, jumping onto the lead of the data projector and our Chair's camera! He was obviously attracted to the best camera brand ( Nikon...)

A really fun practical evening, members enjoyed both viewing and photographing the animals.
