Camera Club Meeting Recap: Preparing Images for Print & Editing Tips
Our latest camera club meeting was a fantastic deep dive into the world of image editing, with a particular focus on preparing photos for print. Bobby and Colm led an engaging and informative session on using Lightroom and Photoshop to ensure images look their best when printed for our upcoming print battle and Exhibitions.
They covered key aspects such as resizing, choosing the right file formats and how to set up an export preset.
Following their presentation, the session took on a more interactive format as members shared their favourite editing techniques and tricks. It was fascinating to see the variety of approaches people use—some preferring non-destructive editing in Lightroom, while others showcased creative Photoshop workflows involving masks, layers, and generative AI. We also explored alternative editing suites, with members demonstrating software like Bridge, Camera Raw and others.
One of the best parts of the night was the live demonstrations, where members walked us through their processes step by step. From advanced retouching to simple techniques, there was something for everyone, regardless of skill level. The exchange of ideas and techniques reinforced just how many ways there are to achieve a stunning final image, and it was inspiring to see the passion and expertise within the group.
As always, the meeting was not only a learning experience but also a great opportunity to connect with fellow photography enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned editor or just getting started, there was plenty to take away from the session. We’re already looking forward to our next gathering—until then, happy shooting and editing!
