RAW’s Last Outing of the Year – A Chilled but Cheerful Stroll Through Belfast

Just a small handful of us met at the train station at 10:30 on Sunday for our final RAW outing of the year. The winter chill had definitely set in—one of those mornings where you’re grateful for gloves, but also happy to be out. Despite the bitter cold, the light was fantastic, making it a surprisingly good day for photography. Crisp sunshine, long shadows, and that soft winter glow… perfect.

We spent the first part of the morning simply wandering through the streets of Belfast, cameras in hand, keeping an eye out for anything that caught our attention. As usual, the photography was only half the fun; the other half came from the chats, the laughter, and the easy company that makes these outings so enjoyable.

Eventually the cold won out, and we ducked into the MAC for a coffee break—an opportunity to warm up fingers, compare a few shots, and take a little breather before heading back out into the streets.

Refreshed, we continued on for another hour or so, drifting through the city, snapping whatever scenes spoke to us. As the cold began to creep back in, a couple of us decided it was time to call it a day. We headed home feeling chilled but content, memory cards a little fuller and spirits a lot lighter.

There’s something special about a simple Sunday walk with your camera and some good friends. A perfect way to wrap up the year.
